It’s a funny thing but we haven’t talked much on Kitchen Authority about the perfect partner for food. Yet, without wine, the kitchen would definitely be a poorer place and social eating occasions would be far less interesting.
Cork Dork: A Wine-Fueled Adventure Among the Obsessive Sommeliers, Big Bottle Hunters, and Rogue Scientists Who Taught Me to Live for Taste is the perfect introduction to why wine matters and how it works with our food.
From The Horse’s Mouth
If you’d like to know a little more about the “Cork Dork” then why not check out her quick explanation of what inspired her to begin her journey in wine and how little she knew about the subject back then? It’s quite fascinating:
“Grape juice with alcohol?” Ouch.
So, The Book?
I found myself really drawn into this. I don’t think I was quite as clueless about wine as the Cork Dork when she began but I really didn’t have as solid a grip on the subject as a sommelier either. I found her whimsy and passion for the subject, refreshing and it drew me in.
I can conclusively say that I know far more about wine now than when I started and, as importantly, I very much enjoyed the process of learning. You can’t ask for more than that from a book.
