Dinnerware is an integral part of every single meal that we serve in our home.
It’s sometimes an afterthought in our busy modern world but I’d argue that it shouldn’t be. So shall it be!
Let’s take the Gibson Soho Lounge 16-Piece Square Reactive Glaze Dinnerware Set that I picked up this week.
Why did it catch my eye?
What does it add to a family mealtime?
Let’s find out…
It’s A Classic Look
I think dinnerware should say something about your general aesthetic tastes but, in the same breath, if you want it to last – you probably shouldn’t pick a design “of the moment” because in 5 years it will look out of date and jaded.
So, I want classic appeal. A single color or pair of colors that go well with your home and that don’t have anyone in the family pulling faces when they see them.
Which means my desire for a bright pink dinnerware set is always going to be frustrated by my boys.
Good Dinnerware Gives A Sense Of Order To Meal Times
I like dinner time in my house to be a time when the family gets together and talks.
We don’t have the TV on. Nobody brings a smartphone to the table or a book.
It’s time for us to work through being a family and it’s reassuring and brings us all closer together.
I think good dinnerware supports that. It’s steady and reassuring.
It shows that we are one family and that despite any differences that we may have, we’re all doing the same things and meeting the same needs.
I wouldn’t use the Gibson Soho Lounge 16-Piece Square Reactive Glaze Dinnerware Set for a dinner party, but it is perfect for day-to-day family use and if somebody breaks something, it won’t cost the earth to replace either.
You can find the Gibson Soho Lounge 16-Piece Square Reactive Glaze Dinnerware Set on Amazon and see for yourself.
