The latest craze in culinary circles is to ditch the sea salt and swap it out for Himalayan Salt. That is salt that comes from the Himalayan mountains. This has the benefit of a few extra minerals in the salt, I am not convinced this means much in the scheme of things but it’s trendy to believe that it does.
However, that doesn’t mean that I’m not impressed by the Himalayan Salt Plate. To the contrary, it makes a really useful addition to my kitchen that can really enhance the flavor of meals. You need to learn to use one but when you do – it rocks.
Grilling With A Himalayan Salt Block
If you want to unleash your inner creative then you might want to give grilling with your Himalayan Salt Plate a go. This great video from Baum Grillin’z shows you just how easy and fun it can be. I can assure you this is really, really good. My whole family loves this way of steak preparation.
So, The Himalayan Salt Plate?
I think it’s hard to go wrong with one of these. I am not sure what the most popular brand is and I doubt that it matters – Himalayan Salt is Himalayan Salt when all is said and done. This is a solid block of salt that is well presented and makes great tasting food.
Do remember, however, this isn’t the cheapest addition to a kitchen, and you do need to pay special care to keep the salt plate properly and when cleaning it. If you don’t, you’re going to end up with a bowl of salt water and substantially out of pocket.
