Hommate Super Nonstick Skillet – It Really Is Non-Stick

We’re going back to the ultimate basics today on Kitchen Authority. If you own a stovetop, then you need a skillet. It is the absolute essential for cooking that way. More so than any other pan or dish and that’s because it’s so versatile. There’s almost nothing that can’t be made in a skillet and most importantly of all, it’s perfect for frying in.

The Hommate Super Nonstick Skillet, however, is not entirely a basic skillet. That’s because it has a special nonstick coating, which apparently has been featured on TV. I don’t watch much TV so I can’t attest to this but I can attest to the fact that it is very non-stick, indeed.

Extra-Crispy Fried Eggs

J Kenji Lopez loves their eggs fried with an extra crispy finish. I have to admit that I am quite partial to this way of finishing an egg too, so I was happy to discover this handy little tip for making sure that your eggs turn out ready for placing between two slices of bread before being devoured. Oh yeah, fried egg sandwiches for the win!

It’s so easy when you know how!

So, The Hommate Skillet?

It’s incredible just how non-stick this coating is. It was a doddle to cook an omelet in this pan and then just slide it straight out and I like to burn my omelets a little. I even managed to peel some melted cheese off it without a whimper of protest.

I am not sure, however, that this coating will last forever whereas my cast iron skillet certainly won’t be falling to pieces any time soon. But for the purposes of a few years use, I think the Hommate will do just fine and as it’s fairly priced, that’s enough.
