How To Boil An Egg: Kitchen Authority Basics


It’s amazing how many people don’t know this. You need:


  • Eggs
  • Water

Then:

  1. Put your eggs in a saucepan.
  2. Fill the saucepan with cold water so that it comes an inch above the eggs.
  3. Use high heat and bring the water quickly to the boil.
  4. As soon as it boils remove from heat.
  5. Wait for 4 to 6 minutes for soft boiled eggs, 8 to 12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs
  6. If you want to peel the eggs, use tongs to remove the eggs from water and immerse in ice water and leave for 10 minutes
  7. Peel
