It’s amazing how many people don’t know this. You need:
- Put your eggs in a saucepan.
- Fill the saucepan with cold water so that it comes an inch above the eggs.
- Use high heat and bring the water quickly to the boil.
- As soon as it boils remove from heat.
- Wait for 4 to 6 minutes for soft boiled eggs, 8 to 12 minutes for hard-boiled eggs
- If you want to peel the eggs, use tongs to remove the eggs from water and immerse in ice water and leave for 10 minutes
