Every kitchen I’ve ever been in could use a little extra help getting organized. The trouble is that when you cook a lot, you generate quite a bit of “half-used stuff” and at the same time, no matter how many little plastic boxes you’ve bought, there are never quite enough of them to store all that stuff.
I’ve always found that a bit frustrating. What you do, instead of using a box, is throw stuff in a bowl and then cover it with saran wrap. That’s an eco-nightmare. So much plastic waste. Then I discovered silicone stretch lids and the problem disappeared.
If You’ve Not Seen Them Before
The silicone stretch lid is designed to fit over nearly anything and form an airtight seal. If you haven’t seen them in action before, check out the video below. You’ll be amazed at how easy to sue these things are:
Throw them over the top of just about anything and they’ll adhere (in a non-permanent fashion) to it. It makes storing things in the kitchen so much simpler and they are reusable, so you’re not committing environmental sins while you do it.
But Do They Last?
Silicone stretch lids are much more durable than they look and you’re going to find that they last for a long, long time before you need to replace them. That’s good because while they are cost-effective, they’re not the cheapest kitchen aid to purchase in the first place.
You can find silicone stretch lids on Amazon here and see for yourself.
