Doing this SUMO Dough Blender review was a walk down memory lane. I can’t remember the last time I made dough by hand, it was a long time ago.
I like to use a stand mixer to tackle my kneading jobs but a friend of mine called me up recently and said they had a hand-held device that could help me do the whole thing without using any electricity.
So, I agreed to test out the SUMO dough blender and see if this clever little device was going to take the place of my stand mixer in my kitchen.
Pie Dough Not Bread Dough
Only a masochist tackles making great bread dough with a hand tool and I wimped out on the task.
I like having hands that work, so I am sticking to making pie dough with the SUMO Dough Blender.
I thought I’d take an interesting recipe for this and borrowed it from Jamie Oliver.
It has to be said, no matter how you prefer to make your dough, this pie crust is so darned tasty that it’s worth making today. Seriously, it’s awesome.
And The SUMO Dough Blender Review?
Well, to be fair to the SUMO Dough blender, it blended things exceptionally well. But then, this isn’t a huge challenge when it comes to pastry.
And I did wonder whether you really need a device at all given that Jamie Oliver manages just fine with his fingertips for that recipe?
However, it’s really solidly built (as you’d expect from a SUMO anything), and the fact that it doubles as a heavy-duty pastry cutter doesn’t make the SUMO dough blender a write off.
If you do like to make a lot of pastry, it would certainly come in handy. If you don’t own a stand mixer, it might be helpful on more heavy duty pastries than I made too. However, if you already have a stand mixer, you may only end up using the cutting blades.
