American food often gets forgotten in the rush to embrace the diverse range of tastes from around the world. Don’t get me wrong, I love the freedom to eat from anywhere but sometimes, I think it would be nice if our heritage got a bit more of a look in too.
That’s where The New Southern Cookbook Classic Family Recipes And Modern Twists on Old Favorites comes in. It’s a walk through classic Southern Recipes with a hard focus on delivering traditional food in a tasty and delicious fashion.
Buttermilk pie is one of my favorites and this isn’t the recipe featured in the book but it is an excellent alternative from Food Wishes. The authors of The New Southern Cookbook seem to be a little camera shy when it comes to YouTube, sadly.
This makes my mouth water just thinking about it.
Yes, The New Southern Cookbook Classic Family Recipes And Modern Twists on Old Favorites has become a favorite in our household. Every time we bring the family together, we seem to cook at least one dish from it. Sometimes, more. We all really like the grilled peaches and garlic rosemary pork tenderloin!
My kids are always asking for the squash puppies with bacon pimento cheese too.
