WonderMill Review | The Best Home Grain Mill Grinder

The Wondermill is a cool kitchen tool. And we love cool gadgets at Kitchen Authority so when we came across the WonderMill on Kevin Kelly’s site Cool Tools, we couldn’t pass up the chance to put it to the test.

The WonderMill is a grain mill that is fully electric for speedy use that leaves every other mill we’ve ever come across in the shade.

However, before you rush to grab your check book and buy a WonderMill, you’re going to want to read our review and contemplate on whether you’re going to use it enough to justify the steep price tag it comes with.

What Do You Use A WonderMill For?

The purpose of any milling implement, like the WonderMill, is to enable you to create your own flour at home.

This gives you absolute assurance that the flour only contains the grains that you use and has no pesticides or other harmful contaminants in the mix.

If you love to bake your own bread and you’re tired of using a hand mill (which can be both very effective for making flour but also completely exhausting – they’re hard work) then the WonderMill is going to be of interest to you and your family.

What Do We Like About The WonderMill?

The WonderMill is one of those products that is a pleasure to unbox.

You know you’re getting quality as soon as you look at it. This is a substantial mill and it is in a completely different league compared to cheaper electric products.

It’s built to last.

Check out this unboxing video from Noreen’s Kitchen:

The WonderMill carries a lifetime warranty and is fully compliant with all safety standards in the EU, Canada and the USA. That means you can be assured that this product’s not going to catch fire or fall to pieces during use and is quite safe to use in normal conditions.

It’s also fast, very fast. They use a 1,250-Watt LG motor to power this device and that’s a much bigger motor than competing products use. It can really make short work of turning grains into flour.

How Much Flour Can You Make With Your WonderMill?

Well, they claim that you can make about 100 lbs. of flour every single hour that your WonderMill operates for.

What’s even more incredible is that they say it will run for 10 hours straight without any overheating!

That means you can make almost a ton of flour in a single day!

It will come as no surprise that many small bakeries and catering outlets use a WonderMill for their flour needs.

It is very simple to use there are very few parts (5 to be precise) and they are simple to put together and get going with. It’s a fairly noisy device but not as noisy as we were expecting it to be.

One thing that we did marvel at was how little mess this device makes. Given that it’s basically producing a big bag of dust, we thought that super-fine flour would get everywhere but in fact, it’s remarkably dust-free even after relatively heavy use.

The design is supposed to be immune from jamming, gumming or glazing too and we certainly found this to be true in our tests.

Final Thoughts On The WonderMill Grain Mill

This isn’t a cheap product which means you’re going to want to know whether it’s for you and your family already.

If you want a rock solid, life-long electric grinder which can make enough flour to feed an army – then this is the device for you. It’s brilliant and it works like a charm. It’s so much easier than hand-grinding.
